AgStart supports entrepreneurs in Northern California in accelerating the commercialization of their innovative technologies in the Ag|Food|Health space.
We provide entrepreneurs in our Northern California region with the connections, education, mentors and access to resources they need to commercialize their innovations.
The Lab@AgStart, our 6,200 sq. ft. facility in downtown Woodland, includes co-working space, meeting rooms, dedicated offices, the Yocha Dehe Wet Lab (with wet lab benches and shared lab equipment) and Raley's Food Lab (a commercial-grade kitchen). The Lab@AgStart is today the largest wet-lab incubator for startup companies in California’s Central Valley region. In September 2022, The Lab at AgStart will open a new wing, adding fermentation and tissue culture capacities and more than doubling its lab and office space.
Since its founding in 2012 through collaboration between the University of California Davis and a regional non-profit, AgStart has helped hundreds of innovators and startups in the Ag|Food|Health space. We appreciate being part of our region’s thriving innovation ecosystem, and we believe our network-centric model supports the explosive and impactful growth of innovation in our region and in this sector.
AgStart is a non-profit program supported through membership fees and the generous support of our corporate and other sponsors.

California’s Central Valley is a center for high-value agriculture, producing tens of billions of dollars of products annually and making California the top producer in the nation. The Sacramento area is home to thriving clusters of technology companies focused on seed breeding, agricultural biologics, food-processing and food-safety, nutrition and more. UC Davis - the nation's top research institution in Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Science - is a short drive away.
Together, AgStart and this cluster of industry and academic connections provide a fertile environment for innovators in Ag | Food | Health.
